In April 2023, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust confiscated 132 kilograms of bushmeat, 73 kilograms of ivory, made 113 arrests, and destroyed 814 snares. The team also discovered 3 cannabis plantations, 10 charcoal kilns, 39 illegal livestock enclosures, and 1 poachers’ hideouts. Their veterinary units attended to a total of 61 wildlife cases with 21 of them being elephant-related and 31 of them being poaching-related.
